Fall Planting

I love the autumn! One of the things that comes to my mind this time of year is fall planting. Now is an excellent time to plant trees. The right tree can add beauty to your yard and improve the curb appeal. One of my favorite trees is the "flowering crab apple tree". I wished I could remember the name of the species I planted, but that was 15 years ago. I purchased two trees as fruitless flowering crabs. I learned that there is no such thing as totally fruitless crab apple tree. Fruitless just means that the tree has fewer crab apples then a normal crab apple tree. You should consider this tree in your fall planting. Keep in mind the extra work of picking up the crab apples but remember it is offset by the beauty this tree brings to your garden. The actual truth is I don't always pick up the fruit.

If you are looking for a small tree that stands out this is the one. I have a few pictures to share, this is the spring (above) and the fall (below).

Fall is also a great time to prune your trees. If you are at a loss how to go about this, I have the guy who can help you. Call Russ Barker who owns "Barker's Tree Mend Us Arbory ". You can contact him at 801-584-9833 or email him at barkers.tree.mend.us.arbory@gmail.com. I know I plan on scheduling him to come and check my trees out this fall.

What trees do you recommend planting?
